About Skin Booster Injections

Approximately half of the hyaluronic acid in the body is found in the skin where it plays an important role in its structure and moisture content. The amount of hyaluronic acid in the dermis decreases as we age, and this contributes to volume loss and formation of lines.

Skin boosters are a thin dermal filler that is injected superficially into the surface of the skin to increase hydration, firmness, and glow. As opposed to structural dermal fillers, skin boosters improve skin quality instead of improving support in your facial structures.

These treatments will help rejuvenate your skin by restoring your skins’ hydration, as well as improve collagen and elasticity, giving your skin a healthy, youthful glow.

How does it work?

Skin boosters are made of hyaluronic acid in which attracts water. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring factor in our skin and plays an important role in skin hydration. Skin boosters are a very thin type of dermal filler, and when injected just under the skin, it can help gradually improve your skin condition by increasing hydration, collagen, and elastin in the skin.

What happens during your treatment?

After a thorough consultation with our Cosmetic Physician and Registered Nurse, your treatment area will be cleaned to reduce infection risk, and numbing cream can be applied, though not necessary. Skin boosters will then be injected right under the skin using fine needles to give your skin an amazing boost in hydration and glow.

What results should I expect?

The product may be visible with tiny lumps underneath your skin for about 30min-1hour post treatment, however, this is expected and will eventually disappear. Your fine lines will be smoothed out with skin boosters, and your skin will be more radiant, hydrated, and more elastic.

How long do results last?

Results usually last 12-18months, however, a 6-12 month maintenance treatment is recommended to maintain and ensure long-lasting results.

What are the side effects and complications?

Potential bruising can occur, as well as swelling and tenderness mainly in the first 2-3 days after treatment. A very rare complication is vascular occlusion where filler is injected into an artery or vein and stops blood flow. This can lead to tissue necrosis, stroke, and blindness, however, once again, this is very rare and, in the case, that this does happen, it will be well-managed by our trained medical staff. Other rare complications include infection, allergic reactions, and granulomas.

How many treatments will I need?

We recommend 2-3 sessions every 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results in hydration and glow, with maintenance treatments every 6-12 months to maintain results. However, individual results vary depending on lifestyle, age, and skin condition.

Do not apply any make-up for 24 hours and avoid touching the treatment site for the next few hours to reduce infection risk.
